Even with the proliferation of new social media and collaboration solutions, for businesses e-mail is still the most valued communication tool. Microsoft Exchange Server and Outlook Market Analysis, 2010–2014, Executive Summary (http://www.radicati.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/Email-Statistics-Report-2010-2014-Executive-Summary2.pdf) cites the following:
- The number of worldwide e-mail accounts is projected to increase from over 2.9 billion in 2010 to over 3.8 billion by 2014.
- Geographically, in 2010 the majority of e-mail users were located in Asia/Pacific (47%). Europe accounts for 23% of all users; North America has about 14%, and the rest of the world has around 16% of all users.
- In 2010, the typical corporate user sends and receives approximately 110 messages daily.
In this paper, ACG Research examines e-mail trends, issues and business challenges and identifies solutions to help remove the obstacles to basic business communications such as managing your inbox limits, file size and attachment problems. We also look at IT compliance issues related to the use of FTP as a file transfer solution.
